Hey Lana,

I have a couple of things in the works and some we have done. Let me know if any of these sound interesting to you (for topics). And I am happy to let others bring ideas forward (rather than me talking about these). I am always interested in hearing innovative ideas.

NURSING TIPS: When preparing to administer any drug to a client, consider what is often referred to as the "Five Rights" of medication administration:

  • Right client
  • Right route
  • Right drug
  • Right dose
  • Right time

A sixth right often mentioned but not part of the original five is the right documentation. Don't forget to administer the drug to the client first and then document it. Documenting beforehand is considered a falsification of documentation and is a violation of the nurse practice act.

Dear TB Nurses,

Join us! NTNC will be hosting a meeting on Thursday January 13th at 9am pacific time to further discuss this call to present explained below.

The NTNC annual planning group needs your help! We are calling on you to identify “nursing innovation across the nation” from within your state program and local county programs for a short 5 minute presentation during the TB Nurse (NTNC) section of the National TB Controllers Conference this May 2022.

Innovation is a new idea, device, or method and can include repurposing a previous idea. We will ask for a recorded presentation from a presenter (can be local nurse or state nurse representing) that will be followed by a live panel for Q&A. The purpose of these presentations will be to share innovation by our TB nurses around the nation and highlight the exceptional ingenuity, resourcefulness, and keen intellect that has occurred in the last year!

We would like the following short presentation to include:

  1. Introduce self and location of TB nursing work
  2. Describe the innovation
  3. Where does this idea, device, or method stand now
  4. How do you see this influencing your work going forward

Please email me with contact information on the presenter and a brief description of the innovation of any questions by Wednesday, January 12th and/or join the meeting on Thursday.
