Hi all,

This is very timely.  I have been asked to present to nursing students for 3 hours next Tuesday.  Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fill the time?

Typically for TB I’m allocated 15 – 30 minutes.  Open to any and all suggestions!

Thanks,

Katie

Good day,

My next presentation is October 11, 2022, at the College.

I have been going once a year to speak to the group that are studying Community Health.

What a great opportunity, it took a few calls to begin this though was well worth it.

Find out the instructor who teaches that section then you should be welcomed.

Have a pleasant day.

Daniela,

Great question!

We (state-level) have not engaged nursing schools directly but I hope to have mentorship capacity soon. I have offered to give talks on public health nursing at my alma mater.

I do know some county HDs have a great relationship with their local nursing program and are able to keep an active interest and hiring of new nurses into public health.

I wonder how the TB nurse certificate program would be received by the students.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone.

The North Carolina Division of Public Health is working on plans to re-engage with nursing schools. The purpose is to advertise public health nursing as a career path, offer DPH and local health department nurses as guest faculty, and other approaches we may have not thought about yet.

How are other states and localities encouraged engagement? How have you facilitated engagement? Is there something that has worked or not worked?

Thank you for your help.

Have a great weekend.
