Hello,
Having had an MDR TB client previously for over a year and a half, I would like to send Kudos on the DR Assessment and Intervention tool! I wish I had something this wonderful while caring for our patient. We were
very fortunate to have a fairly smooth case. We watched our client like a hawk. Thank you to all who contributed to the tool and to those evaluating it.

Greetings Nurse Colleagues,
I can’t believe how time has flown since our meeting in Atlanta!
For those of you at the meeting in Atlanta, you may recall that Ann Raftery (with Curry RTMCC) introduced a newly developed MDR-TB Nursing Assessment/Intervention job aid to assist nurses with managing side effects for patients on
treatment for MDR TB. This tool was developed by group of nurses (Ann Raftery, Catalina Navarro with Heartland RTMCC, Carrie Tudor with the International Council of Nurses and myself) in response to request from nurses for additional tools/resources.
The content is based on guidance in the MDR Survival Guide, WHO and Partners in Health materials for assessing and addressing side effects but focuses specifically on nurse level assessments and interventions. It is being pilot
tested in a number of sites internationally (China, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand).
We are also interested in pilot testing the tool in US. If you (or other staff in your program) are currently managing a patient with MDR TB and would like to pilot test the tool, please contact me directly (don’t reply on the listserv!)
at (510) 620-3054 or lisa.true@cdph.ca.gov
Attached for your reference is a brief one page description of the tool, the tool, and the evaluation form but we ask that you not distribute or use the tool in its current draft form unless you are participating in the pilot test.
Once the tool is finalized we hope to have it available on-line and for distribution.
Thanks and I hope there are some folks out there who would like to pilot test the tool!
Lisa
