Hello,

I am interested to see if there is anything shared with the group. I was working on this for over a year and half (slowly between all other duties). I was unable to find one for a home setting so I reached out to Ellen Murray and started working on creating one. We did get pretty far with it but wanted it reviewed by someone in legal prior to rolling it out. The idea was to get a portable machine for each health department to have on hand when they collected sputum. If unsuccessful with collecting sputum after attempting expectorated process, the PHN would pull out the machine to do an induction right in the home. The machines are relatively inexpensive and this would relieve the headaches we all battle with insurance coverage (or lack thereof) and getting someone into a hospital for the induction. Saves time and money.

Will be eagerly waiting for more to weigh in......

Our TB program in New Mexico is looking at the possibility of performing sputum inductions.

Does anyone have any protocols that they would be willing to share? Does anyone have protocols that include sputum inductions in patient homes or other settings if negative pressure rooms are not accessible?

    Anything will help.

    Thank you in advance.
