Lorna,

I have a group of nurses watching this. How can they all get CEU’’s for the meeting?

Darlene

Hi all,

The webinar is TUESDAY July 10, at 12 Central time, and is free for members. There are still seats available. Go to http://www.tbcontrollers.org to register, or click on the link on the attached flyer.

Do you think your colleagues at local clinics or the hospital might be interested? Send them the flyer! Only $20 for non-members, and nurses will receive 1.2 CEUs when they complete the post-test and evaluation.

See you (virtually) on Tuesday!

Good Morning!

I have had the opportunity arise to leave my current position, but would like to continue with my membership (paid on my own) and the TB nurse listserv. If you can change my email communications to NurseKittyID@gmail.com after July 31st, I would truly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Gloria K. (Kitty) Smith, R.N.

Hello all,

We have several new members, so I wanted to send out general info on how to use the listserv.

The listserv goes to all who have listed NTNC as a choice on their membership profile. As a member of NTCA, you may be a member of any, none, or all of the sections.

To reply to a message, simply reply as you would to any email. To start a question, send an email to tbnurses@ntca.simplelists.com. All messages go to all members. All members are presently receiving the daily digest of activity; if you want to get the messages as they come, please let me know, so that I can switch your account.Unfortunately, that's not something you can do yourself.

All messages and attachments are archived and available for you. For example, there was a thread some months ago about the best food to give a young Chadian child to help get the TB meds in; he didn't like sweet things at all. The answers are all there in the archives for you. The archives are available at http://ntca.simplelists.com/tbnurses . It's kind of a weird system - you have to enter your email and then a code is sent to you to allow you to read the archives. I recommend downloading and keeping handy any archives that you may need to refer to.

When sending messages or responding to queries, please remember: keep the discussion civil, and never reveal any patient-identifying information.

You may want to try using the system, and check out the archives - we're going to use the listserv next Tuesday to continue any questions and answers still outstanding after the webinar on adverse events from TB meds. For that day only, you'll receive comments as they arrive. Wednesday we'll be back to the daily digest and your email inbox will be calmer. Unless you notify me that you like the "as they arrive", in which case I'll keep your own account set to that.

Good luck, enjoy, and send your questions/comments/requests for policies etc.

Lorna

Coding for prophylactic window treatment of LTBI by Lori Eitelbach (09 Jul 2018 11:35 EDT)

Hi fellow nurses.  Although we’re not billing for our TB clients yet (except for Medicaid), we’re still applying assessment codes to our encounters and I was wondering what assessment code you’re using for those you’ve placed on window treatment?  I don’t want to use a positive LTBI code like R76.11 (TB Skin Test Positive) or R76.12 (QFT-GIT Positive), but it seems odd to code as a Z11.1 (TB Skin Test or QFT-GIT Negative) but have the client on medication until 2nd round testing.  Any suggestions you have would be much appreciated.  Thank you!  -L
