I have a pilot this fall for a protocol we adapted from a variety of clinics/hospitals for home use. This pilot will include education/training program prior to any nurse performing the task. We are going to compare a couple different modalities for the induction. It is important that if we start performing inductions in the home settings, there is a solid procedure, appropriate training, and quality checks to accompany the process. There is a reason induction is normally performed in the clinics and hospitals by RT (training on techniques as well as contraindications due to health risks). I would be happy to share the results. I am hoping to have the pilot and comparison completed by December.

In order to help protect our nursing license as well as for the nurse's working with us, I would strongly advocate for a solid procedure, which I believe we have a great start on, and an excellent training program prior to nurses performing this task in the home setting. I hope others agree with this approach.

Respectfully,

Ann

    Hi all,

We are contemplating having the ability to do induced sputums in the home when the need arises. My question is twofold. If you do induced sputums in the outpatient setting what system do you use and do you have any information about it? Second if you do perform induced sputums do you have a protocol for that.

    Any info will be helpful.

    Thanks

    Darlene
