Good morning,
It is a struggle when we know we have legal means to bring someone to treatment however when they disappear, we cannot enforce or employ those means. We actually have a TB Treatment unit in Massachusetts that people can be committed to either from the community
or a hospital to hospital transfer. When someone is lost to follow-up depending on their background and place of birth if known, I have contacted CDC DGMQ to see if they have flown. If they have flown, they may assist you with creating a Do Not Board for
them to return to the country. They also have had other means on the border for the same. The issue is that the individual will have to ensure they have documented evidence of TB care in order to return. If there are known connections who know where they
have been and know the diagnosis we have asked for their assistance in at least informing the person that we want them to return for their own and the public's benefit. I am speaking specifically with pulmonary cases. Extra-pulmonary is a bit tougher.
Best of luck,
Pat Iyer
legal process for non-compliant TB cases - Amy M Hill (26 Sep 2018 15:10 EDT) |
Hello,
We have had 2 non-compliant cases recently that are unable to be located. We proceeded legally while we could still find them -- but doesn’t produce results. What you do in other states with non-compliant cases and the results?
